Miss Jaffles Cafe

Miss Jaffles Cafe operated from a small shopfront at 9/20 Gerrale Street in Cronulla, a short walk from the sand, and made its name on a single idea done properly: gourmet sweet and savoury jaffles with a nostalgic streak. Note for anyone planning a visit: the cafe appears to have ceased trading, with the delivery listing marked permanently closed and new operators reportedly taking over the Gerrale Street space, so check what is currently trading there before you walk over.

The dog setup

When it was trading, dogs were welcome at the outdoor footpath tables outside the shopfront, on lead, with the street-side position making it an easy stop on a beach walk. Indoor seating was humans only, and at peak times regulars brought their own water bowl rather than waiting for one. The setup was simple, open footpath dining rather than a dedicated courtyard.

Worth knowing

The menu was built around the jaffle iron: the Miss Hangover, the Miss Benny, a cheeseburger jaffle and a biscoff dessert jaffle, alongside smashed avo with bacon, all-day breakfast and a caramilk latte that got its share of attention. Local press counted it among Australia's best jaffles, and it traded mornings only, 6am starts with earlier finishes on weekends.

Getting there

The shop sat in the Gerrale Street cafe strip in the heart of Cronulla (2230), close to the mall and an easy walk from Cronulla station. Street parking on Gerrale Street and nearby is timed and competitive in summer; the train is the stress-free option.

Close by with the dogs

The Gerrale Street strip still has dog-friendly outdoor tables: Ham Harry & Mario and Grind Espresso are both within a block and used to dogs, and Makers Daily is a solid fallback up the street.
