Cedar Street Cafe sits on the corner of Cedar Street and Glen Huntly Road in Caulfield South, from the same team behind the much-loved Mr Brightside Cafe up the road. It is a family and pet-friendly corner spot open seven days for breakfast, brunch and lunch, with walk-ins welcome and an app if you want to order ahead for pickup.

The dog setup

Leashed dogs are welcome at the outdoor tables along the street front, which get umbrella shade through the warmer months, and there is extra footpath seating on both the Cedar Street and Glen Huntly Road sides of the corner. Worth knowing

The all-day menu runs from a brekky roll on a milk bun to the Tiramisu French Toast, an espresso-soaked brioche with vanilla mascarpone, berries and caramel sauce. The Cedar Plate heaps herb-roasted mushrooms, halloumi, crispy kale, hummus and a poached egg on one plate, and the scones with jam and cream get a regular guernsey from locals. Hours are 6.30am to 3pm Monday to Friday and 8am to 3pm on weekends.

Getting there and parking

The address is 756 Glen Huntly Road, Caulfield South, on a busy tram route, so coming by tram along Glen Huntly Road is the easy option. Street parking is available on the road itself and on side streets including Cedar Street, though mornings get busy around school run times.

Make a day of it

For a proper off-lead run either side of brunch, Pawfield Park Fenced Dog Park at the Caulfield Racecourse has separate small and large dog sections, and the Caulfield Park Dog Off Leash Area is a short drive north. If the corner is packed, Fress Cafe is another dog-friendly option in Caulfield South.
