DeliLicious Bundanoon

DeliLicious is a cafe and deli at 5 Railway Avenue in Bundanoon, directly opposite the railway station, doing a brisk trade in house-made pies and sausage rolls from 5:30am to 3pm every day of the week. The footpath tables out the front take dogs, which suits a village built around walkers, cyclists and Southern Highlands day trippers.

The dog setup

Dogs are welcome at the outdoor tables and footpath seating out the front, with indoor space reserved for humans apart from service animals. There is no water-bowl service advertised, so pack a travel bowl with the lead. The tables sit on a village footpath that stays reasonably calm outside peak breakfast, and the grassy patch across the road near the station gives your dog a spot to settle while you finish a pie.

Worth knowing

The kitchen is known for its homemade meat and tandoori pies, sausage rolls and the pepper steak pie in particular, backed by Cuban sandwiches, pulled pork rolls, bacon and egg rolls and a deli case of local cheese and small goods. Vegetarian options are a genuine part of the range rather than an afterthought. Early opening makes it a practical stop before a day in Morton National Park, and it stays busy with through traffic on weekends, so expect a short wait for a front table on Sunday mornings.

Getting there and parking

Bundanoon is about 20 minutes south of Bowral via the Illawarra Highway. Free street parking runs along Railway Avenue and the surrounding streets, and the venue is directly opposite the train station for anyone arriving on the Goulburn line with a dog in tow.

Pair it with

Morton National Park is a short drive or brisk walk away, though its tracks are national-park territory where dogs are not permitted, so plan dog time separately. The Bundanoon fenced off-leash dog park covers off-lead exercise, and Jordans Crossing suits an easy creekside wander. Potter's Pantry is the village's other dog-friendly coffee stop.
