Coffee on Bourbong is a family-run cafe on Bourbong Street in Bundaberg West, tucked inside the Margaret Rose Centre opposite the roundabout near Mater Hospital. Dogs are welcome in the outdoor seating area, making it an easy stop if you're out with the lead in hand.

Good to know. The homemade pies are the drawcard here, generous with meat and locally regarded as some of the best in Bundaberg. The menu also runs to schnitzels, pizza, sandwiches and milkshakes, and the cafe has a relaxed, comfortable feel that regulars come back for.

Getting there. There's plenty of off-street parking on site at the Margaret Rose Centre, so this is a straightforward stop rather than a hunt for kerb space.

If you're making a day of it, Alexandra Park Zoo and the Burnett River parkland are both a short drive away for a walk after your coffee.
