AOAO Cafe

AOAO Cafe is a small Japanese neighbourhood spot at Shop 7, 1 Naranga Avenue in Broadbeach Waters, tucked away from the Broadbeach strip and serving brunch, pastries, sushi and sake in a quiet residential setting.

The dog setup

Dogs are welcome in the outdoor seating out front, on lead and settled beside the table. There is no dedicated dog area or confirmed bowl service, so bring your own water, and check the outdoor seating situation when you arrive, because table count at a cafe this size is limited.

The daytime menu runs to Japanese-influenced brunch, fusion bagels and pastries with coffee and cold brew, and the kitchen flips to sushi and sake in the evening sessions.

The vibe

Calm, uncrowded and family-run, with a regular local trade rather than tourist traffic. It opens early, 6:30am on weekdays and 7am on weekends, and the daytime service winds up at 1pm, with evening service Tuesday through Saturday. It stays closed on Mondays, so plan the coffee run around that.

Getting there and parking

Naranga Avenue sits in the canal-side streets of Broadbeach Waters, a short drive from central Broadbeach, with free street parking nearby. The surrounding streets are flat and quiet, which makes them good for a lead-on wander.

While you're out there

Hedges Avenue Off Leash Dog Park in Broadbeach is a short drive away for a proper run before or after coffee, and Pizzey Park Fenced Dog Park is the bigger fenced option to the south.
