Luna & Co Cafe

Luna & Co Cafe is an all-day breakfast spot at 52 Miles Road in Berrimah, a few minutes off the Stuart Highway and handy to both the industrial side of Darwin and the airport end of town. It is a proper sit-down cafe rather than a strip-shop espresso bar, and dogs are welcome at the outdoor tables.

The dog setup

Dogs take the outdoor seating, and water bowls are generally available if you ask. There is no dedicated dog menu, though the kitchen will usually sort out something plain for a well-behaved pup. The outside tables sit under cover with room beside them, so it works for dogs that settle. Indoor dining stays for people, so plan on alfresco.

Max: Order first, then walk the dog to the water bowl corner. The momo dumplings come out fast and a settled dog makes the wait easy.

Worth knowing

The menu runs from smashed avo and vegan fritters to chicken burgers, pork bao and chicken momo dumplings, with sweet heads into biscoff french toast and Nutella pancakes. Coffee is a strong point, including biscoff lattes and matcha. Hours are 7am to 2.30pm weekdays and 8am to 2pm weekends, so it is a breakfast-and-lunch venue, not a dinner stop.

Getting there and parking

The cafe sits on Miles Road in Berrimah, with a free car park out front and street parking along the road. Coming from the city you take Tiger Brennan Drive or the Stuart Highway and turn into Berrimah Road country, so it is an easy detour on the way across town.

While you're out there

The Knuckey Lagoons Conservation Reserve sits just east of Berrimah, but pets are strictly not permitted in the reserve, so leave it off the dog-walking list. For a proper dog outing, the Dogs NT showgrounds area at Winnellie hosts dog sport clubs a short drive north-west, or head for Bundilla fenced dog park in Fannie Bay. Darwin council rules keep dogs on a leash of two metres or less outside designated off-leash areas, so clip on before you park.

If you are staying in town with the dog, there is a caravan park in Berrimah itself, and other dog-friendly cafes cluster along the Parap and Nightcliff side of Darwin. Plan the morning around the outdoor tables before the Top End heat sets in, and check the Berrimah listing for other dog-friendly stops nearby.
