Cafe Long Shot

Cafe Long Shot sits at 18/6-8 Hannah Street in Beecroft Village, next to the arcade, and it is a genuinely dog-welcoming local: well-behaved leashed dogs are a normal sight at the outdoor tables, and reviewers call the setup out specifically. It opens 6am to 4pm Monday to Friday and 6am to 2pm on weekends, which makes early the move for weekend brunch with a dog in tow.

Dogs settle at the outdoor seating out the front, which is spacious and sunny but street-side rather than fenced, so a settled dog on a short lead suits it best. Staff will often bring a water bowl out if asked. The village streets around Hannah Street are leafy and walkable, so the cafe slots naturally into a morning circuit on the lead.

Worth knowing

The kitchen runs all-day breakfast with corn fritters, buttermilk pancakes, hash browns and a kids menu, plus pastries, cheesecakes and milkshakes, and Licca Lucca gelato made with non-homogenised milk. The feel is upmarket village local rather than scruffy cafe strip, and it draws a loyal following from across Beecroft and Cheltenham. Street parking sits directly out front with more around the village, and it is an easy flat walk from most of Beecroft and the station, so leaving the car at home is a realistic option on weekends.
