West Epping Park Fenced Dog Park

West Epping Park Fenced Dog Park is a fully enclosed off-leash area on Dent Street in Epping, run by the City of Parramatta and open around the clock. Double-gate entries stop dogs bolting on the way in or out, and the wider recreation reserve around it, with playground, toilets and barbecues, makes the park an easy base for a longer outing.

The dog setup

Off-leash applies only inside the fence, with owners staying inside the fence line and keeping voice control the whole time. It is a single mixed-size zone with no separate small-dog enclosure, so bring an extra-cautious eye for a small or nervous dog. Waste bags and bins are supplied, dogs stay leashed everywhere outside the enclosure, and playground, picnic and barbecue zones are off-limits to them at all times.

The vibe

Peaceful is the word visitors use most. Bench seating, a drinking station with a dog bowl, deciduous shade trees and lighting for early or late visits round out the enclosure itself. Weekday mornings are the quiet window; weekends and weekday evenings after 5pm draw the biggest crowds.

Max: one mixed-size enclosure with no small-dog zone means you should hang back near the gate and read the room before letting a timid dog off lead during busy periods.

Getting there and parking

The dog park is accessed via Dent Street, with a large free car park on site. Several bus routes run along nearby Beecroft Road if you are arriving without a car, and Epping station is a reasonable walk for anyone combining train travel with the visit.

Worth knowing

The wider reserve is a genuine precinct: district-level playground with shade sails, picnic shelters, barbecues, synthetic sports fields, cricket nets, basketball and skate facilities. Expect the car park and paths to be busy when sport is on, and keep dogs well clear of the play zones as you arrive.
