Journey Daily Provisions - Bagels, Coffee & Salads

Journey Daily Provisions is a fast-casual bagel and coffee spot at 205 Carlisle Street, Balaclava, doing made-to-order bagels, hearty salads and grain bowls with Allpress Espresso coffee. Dogs are welcome at the outdoor footpath tables out front, which makes it a good quick stop on a Carlisle Street walk with the dog.

The dog setup

Dogs sit with you at the sidewalk tables directly on Carlisle Street. It is a busy urban footpath, good for people-watching but not spacious, so keep dogs on a short lead and out of the walkway. Water is available and staff are easygoing about four-legged customers, but the focus here is quick service rather than table service, so a travel bowl is the safe bet on a warm day.

Worth knowing

The bagels are the point: the salmon bagel and the everything bagel get ordered over and over, and there are vegan options alongside. Matcha is a quiet favourite on the drinks side. Hours are 7am to 4pm on weekdays and 8am to 4pm weekends. This one works best as a grab-and-go stop before or after a walk, rather than a place to linger with a dog underfoot.

Getting there and parking

Carlisle Street is an easy walk from Balaclava Station on the Sandringham line, with the route 16 tram close by; street parking on the side streets is limited to short stints. For a proper leg stretch afterwards, Caulfield Park is close by, and St Kilda Beach's dog off-leash area is a few kilometres west if you want a bigger outing. Las Chicas up the street is the sit-down alternative.
