Benesse Australind

Benesse Australind is a busy community cafe in the Treendale Shopping Centre at 7/1 Mardo Avenue, known for its breakfast menu and strong coffee, and it is set up properly for dogs rather than just tolerating them at a footpath table.

The dog setup

Dogs are welcome at the outdoor tables out front, on lead, while indoor seating is kept for people and service animals. Staff sell kangaroo treats and a puppy cino if you want to spoil your dog while you eat, and outside food or treats for them is not allowed, so this is one cafe where you can leave the snack bag in the car. Access is flat and easy from the car park straight to the outdoor tables.

The vibe and the menu

Regulars come back for the potato rosti, eggs benedict, pancakes and cinnamon buns, with Chilli Eggs for the ambitious, plus a solid takeaway coffee if you are just passing through with the dog in the car. It opens 7am to 5pm every day. Go early on weekends if you want a table outside; it fills up fast with the local breakfast crowd.

Getting there and parking

The cafe sits inside Treendale Shopping Centre with free parking right at the door. Treendale District Park is close by for a run-around, the reserves along the Leschenault Estuary make a good leg-stretch before or after coffee, and the walks at Watson Reserve and Manea Park are short drives down the road. If you are staying in the area, Australind Holiday Park takes dogs, and Dome Cafe Koombana Bay is the waterfront coffee option in Bunbury.
