Yaye's Cafe

Yaye's Cafe sits inside the Araluen Cultural Precinct on Larapinta Drive, a relaxed breakfast-and-brunch spot with shaded outdoor seating right by the arts precinct's museums. It is a local favourite for a proper coffee stop on the west side of Alice Springs.

The dog setup

Dogs on leash are welcome in the outdoor seating area, which is shaded and comfortable even on hot Alice Springs days. There is no dedicated water bowl confirmed, so bring your own just in case. Confirm current seating rules at the counter if you are visiting for the first time.

The kitchen is known for empanadas, alfajores, ham and cheese croissants and eggs benny, with well-regarded coffee and a relaxed, community feel that locals treat as a regular haunt. Hours run 7am to 2pm most days, with a shorter 8am to 1pm service on Sunday. Mornings are the move here; the shade keeps the outdoor tables bearable once the sun is up.

Getting there and parking

Free off-street parking is available right at the precinct, and locals describe it as easy parking just off Larapinta Drive. The precinct grounds themselves give you open ground to stretch your dog's legs before you sit down.

Close by with the dogs

Rotaract Park Fenced Dog Park in Braitling is the closest dedicated off-lead option, with separate enclosures for small and large dogs. For another coffee, Page 27 Cafe is over the other side of town. The West MacDonnell Ranges start not far down Larapinta Drive if you want to extend the outing, though check where dogs are permitted before you set out.
