Rotaract Park Fenced Dog Park

Rotaract Park Fenced Dog Park is a purpose-built off-leash area on Aldidja Street in Braitling, north Alice Springs, split into two fenced sections so small and large dogs get their own space to run. It is a local rather than a destination park, but the double-gated entry and separate yards make it one of the safer off-leash options in town, and it was the town's first dedicated fenced dog facility.

The dog setup

Both yards use double-gated entry to stop dogs slipping out while you are getting the lead off. Dogs must stay leashed anywhere outside the fenced yards, and owners are asked to keep small dogs under 11kg in the small-dog section rather than mixing sizes.

You are responsible for controlling your dog at all times, and bag dispensers and bins are on site so there is no excuse for leaving anything behind. Stay inside the enclosure with your dog while they are off-leash.

The vibe

Practical rather than pretty: water fountain with a bowl, shaded shelters with tables, and trees around the perimeter handle the Central Australian heat. A playground sits in the wider Rotaract Park reserve, so families often run the two together, and mornings before the day heats up are the natural session time.

Getting there

The park is at 1 Aldidja Street on the corner of Angguna Avenue in Braitling, a few minutes' drive north of the Alice Springs CBD. Street parking is available alongside the reserve.

Close by with the dogs

Ross Park Dog Park on the eastern side of town is the other dedicated option if you are coming from that direction, and Vatu Sanctuary in Braitling is a nearby stay for travellers with dogs in tow.
