Ross Park Dog Park (also known locally as Ross Smith Dog Park) is a wide, grassy off-leash field on Lindsay Avenue in East Side, a short ride from the Alice Springs CBD across the Todd River. Entry is free and the ground is genuinely open, with enough room for a proper run, but the park is not fully fenced on one side, so it suits dogs with solid recall more than escape-prone ones.
The rules. The park operates as an off-leash area, and owners are expected to keep dogs under control at all times given the partial fencing. There are no separate zones for small and large dogs, so it works best for confident, sociable dogs. Dog toys are fine to bring.
What's there. Established trees give useful natural shade and there are a few play obstacles for interactive fun. Waste bag dispensers are usually stocked, but there is no water fountain, no seating, and no lighting after dark, so bring your own water bowl and plan visits before sunset.
Getting there. The park sits on Lindsay Avenue in East Side, close to the town centre. It is an easy drive with free parking nearby, and also reachable on foot or by bike via the paths that cross the Todd River from the CBD.

Nearby with the dogs. After the park, outdoor-seating cafes in the CBD such as Page 27 Cafe, Yaye's Cafe and the Watertank Cafe are known to welcome dogs, and pet-friendly options like Alice Springs Tourist Park and Heritage Caravan Park are available if you need somewhere to stay.
When to go. Early morning or late afternoon are the cooler, quieter times to visit, especially through the warmer months. Good for dogs that enjoy open space and don't mind sharing it with others, less ideal for a dog still learning recall given the open boundary.
