Little Rosebery Cafe

Little Rosebery Cafe is a neighbourhood cafe at 42 Rosebery Street, Altona Meadows, tucked into a quiet residential block rather than a shopping strip. The draw for dog owners is the outdoor seating on the street frontage, where a leashed dog can settle in while you work through breakfast.

The dog setup

Dogs are welcome at the outdoor tables out the front, and the staff have a reputation for looking after regulars' dogs, with water bowls often offered. Bring your own on a hot day, and treat the indoors as off limits unless staff say otherwise, so this is a fine-morning plan.

Getting there

Free street parking is easy in the surrounding residential streets. Doors open at 6.30am weekdays and 7.30am on weekends, and both services shut at 2pm.

Weekends fill up and the outdoor tables go first, so arrive early if the dog is coming.

Close by with the dogs

The fully fenced dog park at Henry Drive Dog Off-Lead Park and the off-leash area at A.B. Shaw Reserve are both a short drive away, which makes an easy run-then-brunch loop.

Altona's dog beach is a little further toward the bay for a sand session.
