This car park off Bennelong Street is the main access point for the off-leash stretch of Woorim Beach, with the on-leash zone and 4WD access further north near North Street.

The rules. Check signage carefully at this access point, as the zones either side are marked differently: off-leash runs south from around Access 19, while the beach north towards the 4WD access point is on-leash only. Dogs are barred from the dunes, and anyone under 16 can't be in sole charge of a dog on the beach. Keep at least 15 metres clear of the children's playground.

Getting there. Free parking is available on Bennelong Street with a direct path down to the sand. It fills quickly on weekends, so get there early if you want a spot close to the beach.

Nearby with the dogs. Little Mike's on Jacana Avenue has dog-friendly outdoor seating, and the Blue Pacific Hotel's beer garden welcomes dogs too.

Visit at low tide for the most sand to work with, and aim for early morning if the car park is your priority, weekends and the 4WD access get busy fast.
