What visitors mention
Tallebudgera Off-Leash Dog Beach sits at the northern tip of Palm Beach, where Tallebudgera Creek meets the ocean by the surf club groyne. It is the unfenced, open stretch with calm creek water on one side and surf on the other, looking across to Burleigh Head National Park.
The rules. Off-leash 24/7, but your dog must stay under effective voice control and clear of the flagged surf swimming areas. The off-leash zone runs from the northern tip down to the first set of red and yellow flags. Dogs go back on lead through the Tallebudgera Surf Life Saving Club lawn and the marked on-leash parking areas. Clean up after your dog; bins are provided.
The water and terrain. Sheltered creek water suits nervous dogs and small swimmers, while the ocean side is for confident ones. Low-to-mid tide is best, both for beach space and because the current near the creek mouth and groyne can run hard at high tide.
What's there. A large car park at the surf club, plus public toilets, showers, BBQs, seating and shelters. There is beach matting and a beach wheelchair for access, dog waste bags and bins, and some taps for a dog drink, though water points can be limited, so bring your own.
Getting there. Off the Gold Coast Highway near the surf club (around 1511 Gold Coast Hwy). Translink buses 700 and 777 stop on the highway nearby. Parking fills fast on sunny mornings and weekends, so arrive early.

When to go. Weekday mornings, or before 8am and after 4pm on weekends, at low-to-mid tide for the most sand and the calmest creek. Good for mixed groups: the creek for the timid, the surf for the keen.
