Bellambi Beach sits between Corrimal and Woonona on the Illawarra coast, a quieter stretch of sand than the busier city beaches, with a signed off-leash zone at the eastern end and a dog-friendly food truck parked right at the beach access.
The rules. Off-leash is permitted at any time in the marked zone at the eastern end of the beach, confirm the exact boundary against the signage on the day. Leash up near the surf club and picnic areas, and on all pathways, in the car park and surrounding reserve. Dogs must be under effective control at all times.
What's there. Council provides water stations and waste bag dispensers near the main entrances. Saltie Dog - Coffee & Crepes, a food truck right by the beach access, is popular with dog owners and worth timing a visit around.
Getting there. Free parking is available off Bellambi Lane near the surf club. Bellambi Station is about 15-20 minutes on foot if you'd rather leave the car, and Premier Illawarra buses run along the highway a short walk from the sand.
Nearby with the dogs. Austinmer Beach House and Southview Boutique Guesthouse in Bulli both take pets if you're staying over, and Corrimal Beach Tourist Park has some pet-friendly sites too.

When to go. Weekday mornings are the quiet window, weekends get busy from around 8 to 11am. Low to mid tide opens up the most sand for a proper run. Good for dogs that prefer space over crowds.
