Phillip Island Winery

Phillip Island Winery is a family-owned vineyard and restaurant at 414 Berrys Beach Road in Ventnor, growing pinot noir and other cool-climate wines on the island's slopes with views out to the coast. It is one of the more genuinely dog-set-up venues on Phillip Island: outdoor lawn and tables welcome dogs, and there is even a four-legged kids menu so yours eats too.

The dog setup

Dogs on leads are welcome at the outdoor tables and on the lawn, including the outdoor sections of the Yards cellar door, but not inside the restaurant or the glassed Atrium. The dog-friendly tables operate on a walk-in basis and cannot be reserved, and they are unsheltered, so a fine-day visit is the play. Water is easy to arrange with the staff.

Pepsi: order from the four-legged kids menu, claim an outdoor table early and let the dog accept the compliments from passing families.

Worth knowing

The kitchen is known for woodfired sourdough pizzas, grazing boards and arancini alongside the estate wines, with hot food generally finishing in the late afternoon. Tastings run 11am to 5pm Wednesday to Sunday, with dining slightly later on weekends, and the venue closes Monday and Tuesday outside school holidays.

Getting there and parking

The winery sits between Cowes and San Remo on the island's south side, an easy drive from either, with a dedicated car park on site.

Close by with the dogs

Ventnor Dog Beach is close by for a run before or after lunch, and Ripples n Tonic Farm Phillip Island offers pet-friendly accommodation on the same side of the island.
