Ripples n Tonic is a purpose-built, accessible farm stay at 422 Ventnor Road on Phillip Island, a five-minute drive from Ventnor Beach and set among free-range chickens, ducks and guinea pigs that roam the lawns. Dogs at the farm

Dogs stay inside the cottages with you. Outside, the lead rule is absolute: dogs must be on lead at all times around the property because the farm animals roam free among the guest areas, and the property's own FAQ is explicit that this protects both the animals and other guests, including children who may be nervous of dogs. For off-lead time, a secure backyard at the main farmhouse is available, and management can usually arrange the farm-animal-free paddock if you ask ahead, so flag it when you book rather than on arrival. Clean up after your dog, let management know about your pet in advance, and confirm the fee and any size limit at booking, since neither is published.

The place

The cottages are purpose-built and accessible, disability-friendly throughout, which is rare in the farm-stay category. Around them there is a large in-ground trampoline, a communal barbecue and pizza oven area, ponies and farm tours for the kids, and native wallabies around the grounds. Getting there and parking

The farm sits on Ventnor Road, reached off the Phillip Island Tourist Road (B420), with on-site parking at the cottages. Ventnor Beach is five minutes away, Cowes about ten, and the penguin parade side of the island is a short drive over the hill.

Close by with the dogs

The off-lead payoff is Ventnor Dog Beach, where the sand between Graydens Road and Ventnor Beach Road is off-leash at all times under Bass Coast Shire rules; leash up again outside the zone and near signed wildlife refuges. Phillip Island Winery at Ventnor is the relaxed dog-friendly lunch stop, and NRMA Phillip Island Beachfront Holiday Park in Cowes is the beachfront alternative if you want sand at the door. Note that Phillip Island Nature Parks land, including the penguin parade area, is strictly no-dogs.
