Summit Estate Wines

Summit Estate Wines is a working vineyard at 291 Granite Belt Drive in Thulimbah, and its dog policy is the rare kind worth planning a trip around: well-behaved, leashed dogs are welcome inside the cellar door for tastings, not just on the lawns outside.

The dog setup

Access covers the rustic cellar door, the terrace and the surrounding lawn, and dogs can sit in with you at Kitchen 925, the on-site food venue. Water bowls are placed around the property and the kitchen even runs a small dog menu, with a Puppuccino on it.

The one condition is the leash. It is a working vineyard with a busy weekend crowd, so dogs stay on-lead and comfortable around strangers the whole visit.

Pepsi: Friday and Saturday nights bring the Sunset Sessions, live music and campfires, and the crowd that comes with them. If your dog is noise sensitive, book the midweek tasting instead.

The vibe

The cellar door is a former packing shed fitted with wood-burning stoves, so winter tastings are a feature rather than a compromise. The wines come from high-altitude Granite Belt vineyards, and Kitchen 925 serves grazing boards and wood-fired pizzas.

Sunset Sessions with live music and campfires run Friday and Saturday evenings.

Getting there and parking

The winery sits just off the New England Highway on Granite Belt Drive, reached over a gravel access road, with a large on-site carpark that handles even busy weekend evenings. Doors open 11am to 3pm Monday and Sunday, closed Tuesday to Thursday, and 11am to 7pm Friday and Saturday.
