What visitors mention
Mount Eyre's Honeytree Estate cellar door at 1215 Broke Road is a boutique, family-owned room that lets dogs come right inside. The indoor welcome, complete with a winter fireplace, makes it a comfortable stop whatever the weather throws at you.
Where the dog goes. Dogs are permitted inside the cellar door alongside you during a tasting, which keeps them cool in summer and warm by the fire in winter, and they are also free to wander the grounds and vineyard with you. Keep your dog well-behaved and on a lead. Water bowls are often provided.
What is there. A cosy, intimate tasting across a broad line-up, Semillon, Chardonnay, Verdelho, Shiraz, Sangiovese and Merlot. The fireplace is a real draw on a cold Hunter day, and one of the few you can share with a dog at your feet.
Getting there. 1215 Broke Road, central in Pokolbin and easy to find. On-site parking sits a short walk from the cellar door.
When to go. The indoor access pays off in both extremes: the fireside in winter and the cool room on a scorching summer afternoon. Weekdays keep the small room calmer for a settled tasting.
