Rymill Coonawarra

Rymill Coonawarra is a sustainably certified cellar door on Clayfield Road at Glenroy, in the heart of the Coonawarra wine region a short drive from Penola, and it carries the Coonawarra Vignerons' own dog-friendly listing. Dogs are part of the normal flow here, inside the cellar door and out on the grounds, which makes it a rare all-weather pick in a region where most cellar doors are outdoor-only for dogs.

The dog setup

Dogs can join you inside the cellar door and out on the spacious lawns, so rain or a cold snap does not cancel the tasting. Keep your dog on a lead at all times across the property, and expect water bowls to be on hand for visiting dogs. The resident winery dog often greets arrivals, and well-behaved visitors are the norm rather than the exception.

The vibe

Rymill is known for Coonawarra Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot along with Sauvignon Blanc and sparkling, made under certified sustainable vineyard and winery practices. Beyond the tasting, there is a gallery and museum to wander and a koi pond on the grounds, with the lawns giving a leashed dog room to stretch. The cellar door runs 10am to 4pm Monday to Saturday and 11am to 3pm on Sunday.

Getting there and parking

The cellar door sits at 110 Clayfield Road, Glenroy, just off the Riddoch Highway and a short drive from Penola. Free on-site parking is directly outside, so the car-to-tasting walk is short even with a dog in tow.
