Redman Wines

Redman Wines is one of Coonawarra's founding families, working the same strip of terra rossa since 1908, and its cellar door sits right on the Riddoch Highway. It is a relaxed, unfussy tasting focused on classic long-lived reds, and dogs are welcome, which makes it an easy stop on a Coonawarra day out.

The dog setup. Well-behaved, leashed dogs are welcome in the cellar door area, and there is outdoor seating where you can sit with your dog while you taste. Water is usually available inside, but bring your own bowl to be sure. Keep your dog comfortable around other guests and any resident winery dogs.

Known for. Classic Coonawarra Cabernet Sauvignon with decades of pedigree, plus cool-climate Shiraz and Merlot. This is a traditional, no-frills family cellar door rather than a food-and-events destination, so come for the wine and the history.

Getting there. On the Riddoch Highway, the main road through Coonawarra, so it is easy to find. Ample gravel parking sits right in front, with flat, easy access from the car to the tasting room.

Nearby with the dogs. The sealed Coonawarra Wineries Walking Trail runs between Penola and Coonawarra and is a good leashed walk to pair with a tasting. Several neighbouring cellar doors on the Coonawarra Vignerons' dog-friendly list are close by, and Penola's main street has footpath dining a short drive south.
