DiGiorgio Family Wines

DiGiorgio Family Wines is a family-owned Coonawarra cellar door off the Riddoch Highway, reached by a spotted-gum driveway, and it explicitly welcomes dogs to the grounds. The draw for dog owners is the space: landscaped lawns and shady cork trees where you can settle in with a build-your-own platter and your dog at your feet.

The dog setup. Dogs are welcome on the lawns and under the cork trees, and are generally welcome in the outdoor heated room, which is handy in cooler weather. Keep dogs leashed and managed. Bring your own water bowl to be safe. It is a relaxed, casual setting built for sitting a while.

Known for. Premium Coonawarra reds, particularly Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz and Cabernet Merlot blends, plus a build-your-own platter of local South Australian produce and some cellar-door-only wines.

Getting there. 17273 Riddoch Highway, Coonawarra, with entry down the gum-tree driveway or via Memorial Drive. Ample easy parking sits directly outside the cellar door. Hours are commonly 10am to 5pm daily, closed Christmas Day, Boxing Day and Good Friday, but confirm ahead.

Nearby with the dogs. The Coonawarra Wineries Walking Trail is an easy leashed walk between the cellar doors. Penola's town centre is a few minutes south with shady spots and footpath dining, and several neighbouring cellar doors on the Coonawarra Vignerons' dog-friendly list are close by.
