Gooree Park

Gooree Park is a 500 hectare working estate on the Castlereagh Highway just north of Mudgee, run for decades as a thoroughbred horse stud alongside Wagyu cattle and a large vineyard. Its cellar door opened in 2025 inside the historic Stables building, and dogs are welcome across the experience, from tastings to the self-contained farm stays.

Dogs are welcome at the cellar door, usually in the outdoor areas overlooking the vineyards, and the farm stay cottages accept travelling dogs, with pet access varying from cottage to cottage depending on fencing, so confirm the arrangement for your specific booking. The one non-negotiable is the lead: this is a working property with thoroughbreds and cattle, so off-leash time is not on the menu anywhere on the estate. Bring your own water bowl and treats, as there are no dedicated dog amenities.

The vibe

The draw is the combination of racing history and wine country: the converted stables hold the tasting space, racing memorabilia lines the walls, and the vineyard rows run out to green pasture. Tastings run 10am to 4pm Monday to Saturday and 10am to 3pm on Sundays, and cheese platters are available to slow things down.

Spring and autumn suit a dog-carrying visit best, given how much of the experience happens outdoors on an open, exposed property. Pack water and plan shade breaks in summer.

Getting there and parking

The address is 1544 Castlereagh Highway, Galambine, about ten minutes from Mudgee, with direct highway access and large free parking on site, so there is no tight car park to negotiate with a dog in tow.

Make a day of it

Gooree Park sits on the northern approach to Mudgee's wine trail. Pair a tasting with Lowe Family Wine Co in Eurunderee, which welcomes dogs on lead in and around the cellar door, or Di Lusso Estate with its Italian varietals and outdoor seating. Burnbrae Wines is another dog-tolerant stop on the same loop.
