Perry's Paddock

Perry's Paddock sits in Woodvale, inside Yellagonga Regional Park, and mixes pioneer ruins with a boardwalk through Beenyup Swamp. Dogs are allowed on a leash at all times, and they are not allowed into the swamp water.

The walk

Paths change as you go, from paved sections to dirt and gravel to timber boardwalk. You pass the old homestead and stable ruins, open fields and wetland.

The Parks and Wildlife Service keeps dogs leashed here to protect kangaroos and waterbirds, so expect wildlife close to the path.

Water and shade

There is no reliable drinking water on the loop, so carry enough for the dog. Shade is patchy, good through the swamp and thin across the open paddock.

Bring your own bags and plan to carry waste out. A large gravel car park sits off Ocean Reef Road near the start.

Max: Kangaroos graze right beside the path. Hold the lead short and keep your dog off the swamp edge.

When to go

Go early on warm days, when the open paddock is still cool. Strictly on-lead with lots to smell, it suits calm dogs who enjoy a sniff more than a sprint.
