Woodcourt Firetrail

Woodcourt Firetrail gives Berowra Heights dogs a proper bush walk without leaving the suburb, under eucalypt canopy most of the way. Dogs are welcome on lead.

Lead rules

Hornsby Shire Council requires dogs on a leash and under effective control. The trail runs through a local wildlife protection area, so the lead stays on the whole way.

The walk

It's a double-track fire trail of dirt, gravel and packed earth, about 1.7 km one way. Loop back through the local streets and it stretches to roughly 4.7 km.

The grade is easy to moderate, with a large rock platform along the way. After rain, puddles on the track fill with tadpoles and calling frogs.

Pepsi: Those puddles are frog nurseries. Steer around them, however tempting they look.

Getting started

Street parking is available near the Woodcourt Road and Turner Road ends. There's no water on the trail and bins only near the entries, so carry water, a bowl and bags.

Make a day of it

Berowra Dog Park is close by for off-lead time, and Pinks Lotus Cafe in Mount Kuring-gai makes a good coffee stop.

When to go

The canopy keeps it comfortable in warmer months, and it suits dogs who like a quiet trail over a busy park.
