Berowra Dog Park

Berowra Dog Park is the fenced off-leash area within Crossroads Reserve, on the corner of Turner Road and Berowra Waters Road in Berowra Heights, right beside the Berowra Heights Shopping Village. A double-gated airlock entry and a 24-hour off-leash window make it one of the more secure quick-run options in the Hornsby Shire.

The dog setup

Off-leash access runs around the clock inside the fenced boundary, with entry through the double gate so no dog slips out while you work the latch. Voice control still applies, dogs stay on leash everywhere else in the reserve, and you clean up using the bags and bins provided. Inside the fence there is a water tap, seating for owners, and a large elevated wooden platform that doubles as a lookout and lounging spot. Part of the ground is synthetic turf rather than grass, which matters after rain.

Max: stick to the synthetic turf after rain. The grass sections here go to mud quickly once the park is busy, and the turf patch drains far better.

The vibe

This is a busy local park with a steady rotation of regulars. Sunday and Monday mornings and Friday nights are the busiest windows; a Sunday evening or weekday afternoon is the calmer bet. Social dogs that enjoy company will get the most out of it. If your dog needs an empty space to decompress, time your visit or look elsewhere.

Getting there and parking

The park sits at the Turner Road and Berowra Waters Road corner, with parking in the shopping village car park next door plus additional free parking at the Berowra Village precinct a minute away. Several bus routes run along Turner Road and stop close by. The reserve also has a war memorial and a small kids' play and bike area, so dogs stay on leash through those parts.

Make a day of it

The cafes in the Berowra Heights Shopping Village next door generally take dogs at their outdoor tables, so coffee before or after is an easy add-on. If a fenced run is not enough, the trails through Berowra Valley Regional Park, including the Bellamy fire trail and Clarinda trail, make a longer leashed walk. The Hornsby Dog Park is the other big fenced option down the hill, and the Bite Me Bakehouse at Mount Colah does dog-friendly outdoor seating.
