Asquith Park Fenced Dog Park

Asquith Park Fenced Dog Park is Hornsby Shire Council's fully fenced off-leash area at 12A Rotherwood Avenue, Asquith, on Sydney's Upper North Shore. The recent council extension has finished, adding a dedicated small-dog zone alongside the main enclosure, so a dog with unreliable recall can run safely and a timid small dog has its own space away from the big, fast ones.

The dog setup

The park runs as two fenced enclosures with double-gate entries: a general zone for larger or high-energy dogs and a separate small-dog area from the extension. Water fountains come with low-level dog bowls, agility equipment sits inside the exercise area, and benches with newly planted trees give handlers somewhere to sit in the shade. Bins and bag dispensers are on site. Off-leash applies inside the fence only; on the surrounding paths, ovals and playground edges the leash goes back on, and you stay inside the enclosure with your dog under effective control. The ground mixes grass and dirt, so muddy paws are part of the deal after rain, though new concrete paving from the works has improved the entries.

The vibe

The wider Asquith Park is a proper community hub, with an award-winning nature playground, a learn-to-ride bike track, outdoor fitness stations and public toilets, so the dog park stop doubles as a family morning. Being open 24 hours, early sessions suit dogs that like space; weekend middays bring the regular crowd. It works well for small-dog owners who want separation from big players, and for recall training inside the double gates.

Getting there and parking

Street parking runs along Rotherwood Avenue and nearby Mills Avenue, close to the enclosures. Asquith station is walkable through the residential grid if you are coming by train, and the paths through the wider park are accessible concrete.
