Asquith Park Fenced Dog Park

Asquith Park Fenced Dog Park is Hornsby Shire Council's fully fenced off-leash area at 12A Rotherwood Avenue, Asquith. The fencing is the point: a secure perimeter with double-gated entry makes it one of the few places on this part of the Upper North Shore where a dog with unreliable recall can run safely. Note that council extension works were underway through mid-2026, so expect construction activity until the bigger park opens.

The rules. Standard Hornsby Shire off-leash conditions apply. Your dog must be under effective control at all times, you must stay inside the off-leash area with your dog, waste has to be picked up and removed immediately, and your dog must not be a nuisance to other park users.

What's there. A water tap, seating, bins and dog bag dispensers, on a surface that has historically been a mix of grass and dirt - expect muddy paws after rain. The surrounding park has a playground, and a toilet that is generally unlocked. The extension works include new concrete paving, so the surface should improve once they finish.

Getting there. Street parking is on Rotherwood Avenue, and the park is walkable from Asquith station through the residential grid. Check the council's project page if you are making a special trip while the extension is being built.

Nearby with the dogs. Asquith does the post-park coffee well: Cafe Minamisan has a dog-friendly backyard and a katsu-heavy menu, The Corner 5 Cafe opens from around 6am with courtyard and footpath tables, and Savvy Coffee is a smaller footpath-table stop with serious latte art.

When to go. Like most fenced parks it is busiest in the usual before-work and after-work windows; mid-morning and early afternoon are the quiet slots, and summer visits are better early before the open sections heat up. Best suited to dogs that need secure fencing more than sheer space, at least until the extension opens.
