Wollondilly River Walkway

Goulburn's river path is the town's longest easy stroll with a dog, running more than 4 km beside the Wollondilly from Marsden Weir to the Tarlo Street Bridge. It is paved all the way, and dogs are welcome on lead.

Leads on

Goulburn Mulwaree Council requires dogs to be on a lead and under effective control along the walkway. It is a shared path, so expect bikes and keep your dog to one side.

Along the river

The path follows the river past native plantings, open grass and town parkland, with plenty of birdlife. Mature trees give shade in patches, with sunny open banks in between.

In places dogs can reach the water for a drink or a paddle in the shallows. Bins, seats and picnic tables are spaced along the way.

Getting started

Marsden Weir, off Fitzroy Street, is the easiest place to park and set off. Carry a water bottle, as taps are not on every section.

Make a day of it

Let the dog run at the Victoria Park Fenced Dog Park, then refuel at Thirsty Farmer.

Its length and flat, sealed surface suit a long walk, or a shorter stretch with an older dog. Summer mornings are best, before the open banks heat up.
