Wishart Community Park Loop

Home to the Wishart parkrun, Wishart Community Park follows the Bulimba Creek corridor through shady bushland. Dogs are welcome on lead, and it is one of the calmer walks in the area.

Leads on

Brisbane City Council requires dogs to be on a lead and under effective control here. The park is a conservation and habitat restoration area rather than an off-lead park, so the lead stays on for the whole loop.

The walk

The loop uses the paved Bulimba Creek bikeway, a wide shared path. Mature trees and creekside vegetation shade much of the way, and the running water and bush smells keep noses busy.

It is quieter than the busy off-lead parks, which is why locals rate it for reactive dogs and slow sniff walks.

Getting started

Enter from Kavanagh Road or Greenwood Street, where there is parking. Toilets sit near the playground, with bins around the picnic and play areas.

There are drinking taps near the picnic spots, but carry a bowl for the loop itself.

Parkrun mornings put a crowd on the path, so pick another time if your dog likes space. The shade makes it one of the better summer walks nearby.
