Wentworth Point Foreshore Walk

Apartment towers on one side, Homebush Bay and the Parramatta River on the other: the Wentworth Point foreshore is the neighbourhood's daily dog walk. It is flat, paved and strictly on lead.

Lead rules

The City of Parramatta manages the foreshore, with Sydney Olympic Park Authority looking after the neighbouring parklands. Dogs must stay on lead along the walkways, shared paths and foreshore parks.

Sensitive wetland areas nearby, such as Badu Mangroves, are off limits to dogs.

The walk

Concrete paths and boardwalk sections follow the water past open parkland and stands of mangroves. It is smooth going, easy on paws and fine with a pram.

Young street trees and building awnings give patchy shade, but the open waterfront gets full sun. Drinking fountains are dotted along the shared paths and in the adjoining parks, and bins sit at regular intervals.

Street parking is on Hill Road and Burroway Road, close to several access points.

Max: Bikes use these paths too. Keep the lead short and your dog on the inside when one comes through.

Make a day of it

Stop for coffee at Iluka on Baywater, or carry on along the Millennium Parklands Shared Path for a longer outing.

Early mornings and evenings avoid the worst of the sun on the open stretches. It suits social dogs used to people and bikes.
