Waterfield Park Trail

The Waterfield Park Trail in Cairnlea winds through suburban wetlands near Lakewood Boulevard and Lake Chamoun, where ducks and swans are the main distraction. It is an on-lead walk on sealed paths.

Lead rules

Brimbank City Council requires dogs on a lead in public open space unless an area is signed as off-leash.

Even in off-leash areas, dogs must be on a lead within 5 metres of walking and bike paths and within 30 metres of children's play areas.

The walk

The route follows concrete paths and shared paths with grassy edges, past lakes, open parkland and playgrounds. It is an easy suburban walk that works with a pram.

Max: The waterbirds are the real test here. Keep the lead short along the lake edges.
