Pet policy
Dogs on a lead of 2 m or less, 5 m from play equipment and off the reserve during sport (Port Pirie Regional Council).
Warnertown Oval, the old home ground of the Warnertown Wombats on Abattoirs Road, is now open community land where you can walk a quiet lap with your dog. Port Pirie Regional Council requires dogs on lead here.
Lead rules
On council land, dogs must be on a lead no longer than 2 metres and under effective control. Keep them 5 metres from playground equipment and off the reserve while organised sport is on.
The council's off-leash parks are in Port Pirie and Crystal Brook, not here.
The walk
It is an informal loop on packed earth, grass and gravel around flat playing fields, with big open country sky. Shade is thin, apart from mature trees near the clubrooms and arts centre.
Park informally beside the grounds. There is no dog water and few bins, so bring water and take your bags home.
When to go
Early morning or late afternoon in summer, when the open ground is cooler. A good stop for a calm, low-traffic walk on a mid-north drive.
