Echo Holiday Parks - Port Pirie is a caravan and cabin park at 1 Three Chain Road in Solomontown, right beside Solomontown Beach on the Port Pirie foreshore, about 2.5 hours north of Adelaide. It is one of the few stops on this stretch of the Spencer Gulf where dogs are genuinely catered for rather than merely tolerated: pets go on the sites and even have their own cabins.

Dogs at the park

Dogs are welcome on powered and unpowered sites and in specifically designated pet cabins, subject to availability and manager discretion; every other cabin type is off-limits, and a maximum of two pets applies per booking. Leads are required whenever your dog is moving around the park, dogs must never be left unattended at the site or in a cabin, and you cannot wash pets or their bedding in the laundry or amenity blocks. Excessive barking needs managing, and a post-stay cleaning fee can apply if the cabin needs more than a standard clean. Poop bags are supplied around the grounds.

The setup

A working holiday park with powered sites, cabins and the beach at the fence line, which makes early-morning and evening walks easy without driving anywhere. Reviews average around four stars, with guests consistently naming the location next to the foreshore as the reason to stay. It is a functional stop for travellers heading up to Port Augusta or across to the Flinders, not a resort.

Close by with the dogs

The foreshore and Solomontown Beach out front are the daily walk. For a feed, Terrace Fast & Fresh is a quick stop in Port Pirie South. If the pet cabins are taken, the Travelway Motel takes dogs by arrangement and Hillsview Cabins and Caravan Park is the other caravan option in town, both in the directory.

Max: Ask for a pet cabin by name when you book, not just a cabin. The regular ones are a hard no for dogs and you do not want to learn that at the desk.
