Buttons Beach Shared Pathway

The Buttons Beach Shared Pathway runs along the Ulverstone foreshore with open views over Bass Strait. What brings dog owners here is the off-lead beach at the western end, right beside the path.

Leads and the off-lead area

Central Coast Council sets the rules, and dogs walk the path itself on a lead. The western end of Buttons Beach, from the Leven River to just west of Victoria Street, is an off-lead area.

The middle section of beach between Victoria Street and Buttons Creek is dog-free, so clip the lead back on and stay off the sand there.

The walk

The path is sealed and easy, with rocky outcrops and coastal plants between you and the water. There is almost no shade, and the wind comes straight off the strait.

Parking, toilets and bins are near Bicentennial Park at the western end, off Dial Street and Victoria Street. There are no dog water points along the path, so carry water.

Max: Watch the signs as you walk east. The dog-free stretch starts at Victoria Street, and it is easy to drift onto the sand without noticing.
