Larool Creek Bushland Track

Off Larool Road, on the edge of Thornleigh and Hornsby, bush tracks drop into the Larool Creek catchment towards Wirrega Falls. It is not a formally named reserve but part of Hornsby Shire's wider bushland, and dogs must stay on lead.

Lead rules

Hornsby Shire Council allows dogs on its bushland tracks and management trails on a lead only. Keep to the formed tracks, as the area is part of a wildlife protection zone.

The walk

Gravel fire trail gives way to narrow dirt footpath with rocky sections as you descend. Eucalypt forest closes in overhead on the way down.

The reward is a cascading waterfall where Dog Pound Creek meets Larool Creek.

Max: Narrow, rocky sections mean footing matters. Keep the lead short on the way down and bring water for the dog.

For off-lead time, Thornleigh Dog Park is nearby, and The Monday Morning Cafe suits a post-walk coffee.

Who it suits

This is a bushwalk, not a stroll. It suits fit dogs that are comfortable on uneven ground more than older dogs who prefer a flat path.
