Terranora Broadwater Walk

The Terranora Broadwater Walk traces the water's edge from the Peninsula Drive boat ramp near Bilambil toward the Seagulls Club at Tweed Heads West. It's the flat option in an area better known for steep streets.

Lead rules

Tweed Shire Council requires dogs on a leash unless an area is signed as a designated off-leash exercise area. Dogs must also stay 10 metres clear of children's playground equipment.

The walk

The path is flat and either paved or compacted, which suits older dogs. Views run across open water, past mangroves and the waterbirds working the shoreline.

Parking is near the boat ramp on Peninsula Drive, with more bays at the club end. Bins sit near the access points, but carry your own bags.

Max: Waterbirds feed along the mangroves. A short lead keeps everyone calm.

Make a day of it

Oyster tracks is another local walk. For off-lead time, Boyd Family Park at Tweed Heads West is a designated exercise area.

When to go

Mornings and late afternoons are best, since parts of the path along the open water have little shade. Bring water for the dog.
