Esplanade Foreshore Reserve

No single signposted track carries a foreshore walk name here. The waterside paths around Sylvania and neighbouring Sylvania Waters, centred on the Esplanade Foreshore Reserve, still make a calm on-lead walk with wide views over the Georges River.

Lead rules

Sutherland Shire Council welcomes dogs on lead in its foreshore reserves. There is no off-lead zone along this stretch.

The walk

Concrete and paved paths mix with grassed parkland, and the ground stays flat the whole way. The draw is the open outlook across the river and its bays.

Shade is scarce on the narrow foreshore strips, so much of the path sits in full sun. Water for dogs is limited at the water's edge, so pack a bowl and a bottle.

Parking is mostly unmetered residential street parking.

When to go

In summer, go early or late in the day when the exposed paths are cooler. The flat surface suits older dogs and short legs, and the quiet streets make it an easy routine walk.
