Pet policy
Dogs on lead at all times on every track, including the Loop Trail, River Walk, Wattle Walk and Jenna's Flora Walk.
Chapman River Regional Park protects about 364 hectares of bushland along the Chapman River in Geraldton, with its main trails in suburbs like Spalding and down to the estuary rather than in Woorree. Dogs can walk every track, but only on lead.
Lead rules
The City of Greater Geraldton requires dogs on a lead at all times on the Loop Trail, River Walk, Wattle Walk and Jenna's Flora Walk. The rule protects wildlife and native flora, and walkers are asked to carry out all waste.
The walk
These are natural tracks over limestone, red loam, clay and sand. Expect winding riverbanks, limestone escarpments and more than 300 native plant species, with wildflowers in season and plenty of birdlife around the estuary.
Wattles and other native trees give some shade, but open stretches are exposed. Parking is near the main access points and trailheads.
Max: There is no reliable drinking water on the tracks. Carry enough for your dog and take every bag home with you.
Make a day of it
For off-lead time afterwards, head to Woorree Park Fenced Dog Park, or grab a coffee at Kai Lani Cafe.
Cooler mornings suit these exposed tracks best. It rewards dogs that enjoy a proper bush outing over a manicured park.
