Stuart Park Loop

Stuart Park is North Wollongong's big green space by the sea, and the loop around it joins the coastal shared path, so you get ocean views and smooth walking with dogs on lead.

Lead rules

Wollongong City Council allows dogs on lead on the shared paths and in the park. Keep them away from the playground equipment and the dining areas.

The walk

Paved paths run through mown beachfront parkland past memorial statues, with gravel and boardwalk sections if you push north toward Puckeys Estate. The loop overlaps parts of the Blue Mile pathway.

Big trees give shaded pockets of grass, but the coastal path itself is in full sun.

Water and parking

Drinking water stations, some with dog bowls, sit along the shared path and near the park facilities. Bins are spread through the grounds, and there is free parking beside the park and North Wollongong Beach.

Make a day of it

Diggies is the local cafe for a post-walk coffee, and Basin Cafe is another option in Wollongong.

When to go

The park is a busy hub for joggers and fitness groups, so early morning is calmer. The smooth path suits most dogs, but plan shade breaks on hot days.
