Stringybark Creek Reserve

Stringybark Creek Reserve follows a sheltered sandstone gully on the Lane Cove West and Lane Cove North border, with Sydney blue gums overhead and the creek alongside. It pairs a strictly on-lead bush track with an open grass area where dogs can run.

Leads and the off-lead area

Lane Cove Council treats the bushland along the creek as a Wildlife Protection Area, so dogs must stay on a lead and on the formed tracks the whole time. The off-lead area is on the open grass, away from the bush.

The playground and fitness equipment are kept apart from the dog areas, and dogs need a lead near them too.

The walk

Expect dirt tracks, rock steps and the odd concrete or boardwalk section, so it is more bushwalk than stroll. The canopy is dense and shady, and birds follow the creek.

Bins are on site, but bring water for the dog. Street parking is easy around Murray Street and Ralston Street.

Max: In the bush, lead on and paws on the track. The gully is protected habitat for the birds you can hear.

When to go

The shade makes it a good summer choice. The rock steps suit agile dogs better than elderly ones.
