Turrumburra Park Fenced Dog Park

Turrumburra Park Fenced Dog Park sits off Centennial Avenue in Lane Cove West, on Sydney's lower north shore, a secure double-gated enclosure next to a sports oval and a patch of bushland. It has a quieter, more neighbourhood feel than the bigger riverfront parks nearby, and the full fencing means recall-challenged dogs still get an off-leash run.

The dog setup

The enclosure has solid perimeter fencing with a double-gated entry, shaded seating for owners, a dog water bubbler and on-site toilets. Off-leash applies inside the fence only, so the lead goes back on for the surrounding parkland, and owners stay within the fence with their dog in sight the whole time. There is no dedicated split between big and small dog zones, so watch the mix if your dog is nervous around larger breeds. Waste bags and bins are provided and cleanup is mandatory.

Max: head here before dusk. Without lighting in the enclosure it gets hard to keep track of a dog once the sun drops.

The vibe

Saturday and Sunday mornings and the 5pm to 7pm weekday window are the busiest stretches. Weekday mid-mornings are quiet and a good bet if your dog prefers space over socialising. The adjacent sports oval and bushland give the park a local feel rather than a destination one, and there is no floodlighting, so plan around daylight.

Getting there and parking

A car park sits off Centennial Avenue on the park's north-west side and can fill fast on weekends, with the Epping Road end of the precinct the tighter option. Bus routes along Epping Road put you within a short walk, and Lane Cove village is minutes away by car.

Close by with the dogs

The Blackman Park Fenced Dog Park at the Lane Cove River edge is the bigger sibling option in the same suburb, with Puppy Tail Cafe at its western end serving a dedicated dog menu. In the village, Birdwood Cafe is a reliable dog-friendly coffee stop, and across the river the Ryde Park Fenced Dog Park is another enclosed run.
