Six Mile Creek Corridor

Six Mile Creek Corridor follows its creek through suburban Collingwood Park, a strip of grassed parkland and regrowing creek-bank bush between the houses. Dogs are welcome, but on a lead the whole way.

Lead rules

Ipswich City Council requires dogs to be leashed in public parks and anywhere that is not a signed off-leash area, and the corridor is not one.

Further south, where the creek runs into the White Rock and Spring Mountain conservation estate, dogs are not allowed at all. Turn around before you reach it.

The walk

This is a casual stroll rather than a formed trail. Expect mown grass, dirt tracks and informal earth paths beside the creek and its drainage channels, with plenty of smells along the water's edge.

Mature trees in the adjoining reserves give some shade. Bins sit near the park entries and picnic spots, and there is water nearby at Six Mile Creek Estate Park, but carry a bottle for longer stretches.

With unsealed paths and no crowds, this one suits dogs that like to sniff rather than race.
