Lake Jualbup

A flat paved path circles the whole of Lake Jualbup, a freshwater lake in Shenton Park where black swans and ducks work the water and mature trees shade the edges. The City of Subiaco looks after it, and dogs are welcome on a lead.

Lead rules

Dogs must stay on lead at all times around the lake. With waterbirds this close to the path, that rule earns its keep.

The walk

The loop is level and sturdy, easy for prams, older dogs and short legs. Along the way you pass lawns, native plantings and community gazebos.

Shade is generous thanks to the trees and picnic shelters. There are drinking fountains on site and bins around the edges.

Getting there

Park in the surrounding streets, including Herbert Road, Excelsior Street and Lake Avenue.

Max: Swans and ducks sit right beside the path. A short lead keeps the peace.

Pair it with

Wholefood Circus in Shenton Park or Yours Truly in Subiaco make a good coffee stop afterwards.

When to go

Any time of year works thanks to the shade. Dogs that love to watch birds will be happily busy, and dogs that chase them will need a firm hand.
