Kimberley Forest Park

Kimberley Forest Park is the proper name for this Shailer Park bushland, more than 50 hectares of eucalypt forest and rainforest gullies with entries off Chay Street and Billiluna Street. Dogs are welcome on a leash.

Lead rules

Logan City Council requires dogs to be on a leash at all times in the park.

The walk

Tracks are natural earth bushwalking paths and fire trails, with some boardwalk and stair sections. You pass open eucalypt forest, shaded rainforest gullies, seasonal creeks and rock pools.

The canopy keeps much of the walk cool. Water is available in the park, though a bottle is worth carrying on a longer loop, and spare waste bags help because trailhead supplies are not always restocked.

Picnic tables, barbecues, a playground and toilets are on site, with parking at the neighbourhood entries.

Max: Wallabies graze the slopes in the early morning and evening. Keep the lead short if your dog likes to chase.

When to go

Being mostly shaded, it is a good choice in the warmer months, and early starts bring the best chance of seeing wildlife.
