Safety Beach Bay Trail

The Safety Beach Bay Trail follows the foreshore from Safety Beach towards Dromana, past colourful bathing boxes and twisted banksias, with Arthurs Seat behind. On the council pathway dogs stay on a lead, and the sand has its own set of rules.

Leads, sand and Tassells Cove

Mornington Peninsula Shire zones this foreshore. The pathway along Marine Drive is on-lead at all times.

During daylight saving, dogs are banned from the main bathing beaches between 9am and 7pm, and other beach zones have seasonal rules, so read the sign at each access point. Tassells Cove, by the Martha Cove waterway wall, is off-leash all year.

The walk

The trail mixes sandy beach tracks with a gravel and paved shared path. Parking bays line Marine Drive roughly every 500 metres, so you can start almost anywhere.

Bins sit near the main beach access points and car parks. Drinking fountains are sporadic and shade on the sand is limited, so bring water and a bowl.

Pepsi: Tassells Cove is calm, shallow and sheltered, just right for a paddle once the lead walk is done.

On summer days, walk the path and finish at the cove. Outside daylight saving, the beach opens up and the whole stretch gets easier.
