Riverview Foreshore Walk

The Riverview Foreshore Walk is a short bush track on the Lane Cove River near Tambourine Bay, more sandstone and paperbark than promenade.

Lead rules

Lane Cove Council treats its bushland reserves and foreshores as Wildlife Protection Areas. Dogs must be on lead at all times and stay on the formed track.

The walk

The track is natural dirt, uneven in places, with split sandstone and rocky steps. Big angophoras and paperbarks line the way, and you pass the remains of an old stone pool while waterbirds work the river edge.

The tree canopy keeps it cooler than the streets in summer.

Bins are at the main entries, and bubblers sit near the park entrances rather than on the track. Carry a bowl.

Max: Those sandstone steps can be slippery after rain. Take them slowly with a short lead.

Make a day of it

Once the lead walk is done, head to the Tambourine Bay Park Dog off-leash area for a run.

Best for sure-footed dogs and owners who enjoy a quiet bush walk. It is less suited to very old dogs because of the steps.
