Rhodes Foreshore Walk

The Rhodes Foreshore Walk follows the water around the Rhodes peninsula, with wide views across Homebush Bay and the Parramatta River. Dogs are on lead along the path, with a fenced off-lead park just off it.

Lead rules

City of Canada Bay Council requires dogs to be on lead on the foreshore paths. Lower Phoenix Park on Shoreline Drive is the local off-lead spot, fenced and open from 6am to 10pm.

The walk

The path is paved and shared with cyclists, running past parkland and the apartment towers of modern Rhodes. The paths join up well, so you can make a loop without dealing with much traffic.

Water refill stations and bubblers sit along the route and near The Connection, and bins are regular. Shade comes from shelters and young trees, but some long stretches beside the seawall are fully exposed.

Make a day of it

Add a lap of Brays Bay Reserve, or stop for coffee at Cafe Botanica.

When to go

Mornings and late afternoons are best in summer, before the seawall stretches heat up. The flat, even surface suits older dogs and anyone pushing a pram.
