Jack Gordon Pathway

Jack Gordon Pathway runs along the Redland Bay foreshore near Sel Outridge Park, a flat sealed walk with open water views across to Minjerribah (North Stradbroke Island). It is a short, easy outing rather than a workout, and it links into the surrounding foreshore parkland if you want to stretch it out.

Leash status

This is an on-lead route for the whole distance. The pathway is not a designated off-leash area under Redland City Council rules, and the foreshore is regularly patrolled, so keep the lead on from the car park to the end of the walk and back. Give way at the shared-path sections where cyclists and prams pass through, and keep dogs close around the vegetated and mangrove fringes, which shelter shorebirds.

The walk

The path is sealed and level, roughly two kilometres one way depending on where you turn around, and comfortable for walking, prams and casual bikes. Expect about half an hour at a relaxed dog pace each way. Views sit with you the whole route rather than at a single lookout, with the bay on one side and the foreshore parks on the other.

Water and facilities

Carry water for your dog, as drinking fountains are not guaranteed along the route. Public toilets, covered picnic shelters and barbecues sit around Sel Outridge Park, and bag bins are placed along the walk. At lower tide the adjacent beach has more sand to wander on; after rain some patches near the waterline can turn muddy.

Getting there and parking

The foreshore car park near Sel Outridge Park on Banana Street is the easiest starting point, and there is further parking along the esplanade. Buses run along Broadwater Terrace within walking distance. Early mornings and weekdays are quieter and parking is simpler; weekends fill up around the boat ramp and park area.

Worth knowing

There is little shade on the open sections, so in summer go early or late and watch the heat on hot pavements. The walk is short enough to double as a cooldown stop on a longer Redlands day out, and the tide matters more than the weather for how usable the beach edge is.

While you're out there

If your dog needs a run off the lead afterwards, Point Talburpin Dog Park and Main Street Park are both fenced options nearby. The Park Social and Blip Espresso make easy coffee stops in Redland Bay.
